Better known as a steakhouse for the old age, Jar turns out what is possibly one of the more special brunches in Los Angeles. That said, it’s not cheap. It’s best saved for occasions, parental visits, and, of course, Groupon or Living Social coupons.
We had those harsh pangs of order envy when we saw the Green Chilaquiles delivered to the table next to us, they looked crispy and comforting. Usually we find chilaquiles too soggy, but from the looks of this stranger’s coveted dish, Jar knows how to do it right. The chopped sirloin is surprisingly palatable before 11a, but make sure you order it rare to medium rare with a runny egg, or it might come overcooked. And avoid valet parking; there are plenty of nearby meters.
But mostly importantly? Yes, it is okay to devour the entire pastry they put on the table upon arrival.
